Armenian gymnasts Artur Davtyan and Hamlet Manukyan achieved major successes at the 2025 Artistic Gymnastics World Cup, claiming overall victories in their respective disciplines.
What is the World Cup?
The Artistic Gymnastics World Cup is a series of international tournaments organized under the auspices of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG). Athletes compete in individual apparatus events — vault, pommel horse, rings, floor exercise, parallel bars, and horizontal bar. At each stage, gymnasts earn ranking points based on their placement. In the overall standings, only the athlete’s best results are counted: to win the series, a gymnast must accumulate the highest number of points.
The World Cup results also contribute to qualification for the Olympic Games and World Championships.
Victories of the Armenian Gymnasts:
Artur Davtyan confidently won the World Cup title in vault. He showed flawless performances, winning gold medals at four stages and scoring the maximum 120 points. Out of six stages, Davtyan competed in five, but according to the rules, only the four best results were counted.
Hamlet Manukyan showed great determination in the pommel horse competition. The 17-year-old gymnast had a rough start, finishing eighth at the Cottbus stage and missing the next two tournaments. However, in the final part of the series, Manukyan won three consecutive stages, collected 100 points, and in the overall standings surpassed Olympic silver medalist Nariman Kurbanov by 20 points.
Winners on Other Apparatus:
Nazar Chepurnyi (Ukraine) was the best on parallel bars.
Milad Karimi (Kazakhstan) won titles on the horizontal bar and in the floor exercise.
Nikita Simonov (Azerbaijan) won the rings series.
Additionally, Armenian gymnasts excelled on the rings as well: Artur Avetisyan finished second overall, and Vaagn Davtyan took third place.
Artur Avetisyan competed at four stages, winning 1 gold and 2 bronze medals. Vaagn Davtyan competed at five stages, winning 1 gold and 1 silver medal.
