Armenian wrestlers win 6 medals at the Asiyatilov Memorial 2026

The international Greco-Roman wrestling tournament among juniors under 21 in memory of Surakat Asiyatilov has concluded in Kaspiysk. The competition took place on May 12-13 and brought together a strong field of participants across ten weight categories.
The winners and medalists in all weight classes were determined at the tournament. The Asiyatilov Memorial proved successful for the Armenian team: Armenian wrestlers won 6 medals, including 2 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze.
Two gold medals for Team Armenia
The main heroes of the Armenian team were Narek Grigoryan and Samvel Terteryan.
Narek Grigoryan won the title in the 72 kg weight category. In the final, the Armenian representative defeated Dzhabrail Umkhadzhiev of the Chechen Republic. The bronze medals in this weight class went to Dmitry Dolgov of Moscow and Radzhab Baytullaev of Dagestan.
Armenia’s second gold medal was won by U23 European silver medalist Samvel Terteryan, who triumphed in the 77 kg category. In the final bout, he defeated Adam Abdulkadirov of Dagestan. Another Armenian representative, Artur Amoyan, also won bronze in the same weight class.

Among the tournament medalists was also Papik Dzhavadyan, who won bronze in the 60 kg category while representing Krasnodar Krai. Ashot Aghamiryan of Moscow Oblast also claimed bronze in the 97 kg category.
