On January 31, the UNF 30 tournament will take place in Commerce, California (USA), becoming one of the most significant events for Armenian MMA at the start of the year. Several fighters of Armenian descent will compete on the fight card, with one of them battling for the organization’s championship belt in the main event of the evening.
The main event of the tournament will be a featherweight title fight. Taron Grigoryan (7-2) will challenge for the UNF championship belt against experienced American Albert Morales (18-10-1), a former UFC and Bellator fighter. For Grigoryan, this is the most important fight of his career and a chance to establish himself on the international stage.
Another Armenian representative, yazidi David Mgoyan (7-1), has changed his plans and will compete at UNF 30 instead of the Tuff-N-Uff event scheduled for January 22. His opponent will be Javier Garcia (13-6), a former UNF featherweight title contender.
Migran Arutyunyan (6-2) returns to professional MMA. He fought at the first two UNF events during the league’s early days and will now compete in his third UNF bout, facing Shane Torres (8-9) in the featherweight division.
In the same weight class, undefeated Zhora Sahakyan (3-0) will take on experienced Ryan Lilly (12-13).
Former UNF amateur champion Pargev Khachatryan (1-0) will have his second professional fight. He will face debutant Todd Stafford in a flyweight bout.
In the bantamweight division, Artur Harutyunyan (5-1) will aim to secure his fifth consecutive stoppage victory, facing Chris Chavez (1-3).
The event will also feature title fights in the Rising Stars semi-professional division. Arshak Daduryan (bantamweight) and Edgar Amirkhanyan (welterweight) will compete for championship belts.
Additionally, Arshak Torosyan, David Babakhanyan, Kamo Grigoryan, and Artur Mkrtumyan will take part in ranking bouts in semi-professional MMA.
UNF 30 will take place on January 31 and is expected to become a major milestone for Armenian fighters competing in the United States. The official broadcast of the event will be available on STARFUND.
The league’s previous event was held in October and also featured Armenian athletes.
