Armenia wins 27 medals at the 2026 European Wushu Championships in Lyon

The Armenian national team successfully competed at the 2026 European Wushu Championships, which took place from May 7 to 10 in Lyon, France. Armenian athletes won 27 medals: 14 gold, 11 silver and 2 bronze.

The tournament brought together competitions for both adults and youth age categories. Athletes competed in taolu, wushu sanda and light sanda disciplines.

In the overall team standings, Armenia finished in 5th place. Ukraine took first place, having been widely represented in almost all disciplines.

Greece — 20 gold, 22 silver, 30 bronze
Italy — 14 gold, 24 silver, 16 bronze

Armenia national team results

Armenian athletes won medals both in the demonstration taolu disciplines and in the combat divisions. At the same time, some categories had a different number of participants, so it is important to separately note how many victories the athletes earned on their way to medals.

Gold medals

Artashes Avagyan — taolu, barehand, 40–59 years old. There were 8 participants in the category.

Grisha Alikhanyan — sanda, U14, up to 45 kg. Earned one victory — against a representative of Ukraine.

Alex Khachatryan — sanda, U14, up to 56 kg. Earned one victory — against a representative of Azerbaijan.

Mikael Alaverdyan — sanda, U14, up to 64 kg. Earned one victory — against a representative of Ukraine.

David Hovhannisyan — sanda, U17, up to 48 kg. Earned one victory — against a representative of Azerbaijan.

Erik Virabyan — sanda, U17, up to 65 kg. Earned two victories — against opponents from Azerbaijan and Switzerland.

Tigran Tovmasyan — sanda, U17, up to 75 kg. Earned two victories — against representatives of Azerbaijan and Greece.

Karolina Hambardzumyan — sanda, U17, up to 48 kg. Earned one victory — against a representative of Portugal.

Mane Yeganyan — sanda, U17, up to 52 kg. Earned two victories — against athletes from France and Italy.

Avanes Zakaryan — sanda, adults, up to 56 kg. Earned two victories — against representatives of Portugal and Armenia.

David Vardanyan — sanda, adults, up to 70 kg. Earned three victories — against athletes from Azerbaijan, Sweden and Georgia.

Pavel Mangasaryan — light sanda, U14, up to 60 kg. Earned two victories — against representatives of Switzerland and Greece.

Zhirayr Petrosyan — light sanda, adults, up to 60 kg. Earned one victory — against a representative of Italy.

Vazgen Muradyan — light sanda, adults, over 100 kg. Earned two victories — against opponents from Romania and France.

Silver medals

Siranush Avagyan — taolu, barehand, U17. There were 6 participants in the category.

Artashes Alaverdyan — taolu, barehand, U14. There were 9 participants in the category.

Artashes Avagyan — taolu, one weapon, 40–59 years old. There were 9 participants in the category.

Sargis Yeritsyan — sanda, U14, up to 48 kg. Earned two victories — against representatives of Ukraine and Georgia.

Felix Terzitsyan — sanda, U14, up to 52 kg. Won silver without any victories.

Karen Sahakyan — sanda, U17, up to 52 kg. Earned one victory — against a representative of France.

David Baghdasaryan — sanda, U17, up to 70 kg. Earned two victories — against athletes from France and Georgia.

Gevorg Baghdasaryan — sanda, adults, up to 56 kg. Earned one victory — against a representative of Italy.

Grant Tadevosyan — sanda, adults, up to 65 kg. Earned two victories — against opponents from France and Ukraine.

Tigran Gevorgyan — sanda, adults, up to 80 kg. Earned one victory — against a representative of France.

Garnik Galstyan — sanda, adults, up to 90 kg. No victories.

Bronze medals

Aspram Khosrovyan — light sanda, U17, up to 85 kg. Earned one victory — against a representative of Greece.

Grigor Tonikyan — sanda, adults, up to 85 kg. No victories.
