Armenia U20 claimed their first victory at the international tournament in memory of Mirabror Usmanov, which is being held in Tashkent.
In the second round, Misha Djorkaeff's team faced Russia U20. The match ended goalless after regular time — 0-0.
The game was extremely tense and physical. Players from both teams committed numerous fouls, the referee showed several cards, and there were a number of heated confrontations between the footballers.
After the 0-0 draw, the winner was decided in a penalty shootout, where Armenia proved more accurate and won 5-3.
The shootout was also marked by an unusual incident. While one of the Russian players was taking a penalty, a large hole appeared in the pitch around the penalty spot. Because of the damaged surface, the organizers had to move the shootout to the other goal.
It was Armenia's first victory of the tournament. In their opening match, the Armenian team suffered a heavy 1-5 defeat against hosts Uzbekistan.
Misha Djorkaeff's side will play their final match of the tournament on October 6 against Saudi Arabia.
