Armenia U20 suffer heavy defeat to Uzbekistan at Usmanov Cup

Armenia U20 made an unsuccessful start to the Mirabror Usmanov Cup in Tashkent. In the opening round, Misha Djorkaeff’s side suffered a 5-1 defeat to tournament hosts Uzbekistan.
Armenia actually made the better start to the match. In the 19th minute, Artur Manukyan produced a solo run before finishing accurately to open the scoring.
However, Armenia were unable to preserve their lead until half-time. Abulfayz Bobomurodov first restored parity before Davron Tulaganov put Uzbekistan ahead.
The hosts extended their advantage after the break. Tulaganov scored his second goal of the match to complete a brace, before Kamron Yusupov struck twice to seal the final score at 5-1.
Armenia U20 will play their next match of the tournament on October 4 against Russia.
Four teams are taking part in the Usmanov Cup — Armenia, Uzbekistan, Russia and Saudi Arabia. The tournament will conclude on October 6.
Armenia U19 were also in action on October 2. The team drew 1-1 with Estonia U19.
