Trincão becomes Spertsyan’s teammate as Al-Ahli officially announce Portuguese winger

Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli have officially unveiled Francisco Trincão as their new player. The 26-year-old Portugal international has joined from Sporting Lisbon and signed a four-year contract.

According to reports in foreign media, the initial transfer fee is around €39 million, with additional bonuses also included in the agreement. The Portuguese winger will wear the number seven shirt at his new club.

Trincão is expected to replace Riyad Mahrez in the Al-Ahli squad. The Algerian winger left the club at the beginning of July after spending three seasons in Saudi Arabia.

Trincão has therefore become a teammate of Armenia captain Eduard Spertsyan, who joined Al-Ahli on July 7. The Saudi club’s attacking line could now feature Spertsyan, Trincão, Galeno and Ivan Toney.

Al-Ahli highlighted the Portuguese player’s versatility and ability to operate in several attacking positions. The club expects Trincão’s technical quality, European experience and ability to make decisive contributions to help the team compete for trophies in every competition.

During his career, Trincão has represented Braga, Barcelona, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Sporting Lisbon. He has made 327 official appearances across all competitions, scoring 62 goals and providing 57 assists.

The winger won back-to-back Portuguese league titles and the Portuguese Cup with Sporting. He also lifted the Copa del Rey with Barcelona and won the UEFA Nations League with Portugal. Trincão finished the 2025/26 Portuguese league season as the competition’s leading assist provider.

Following the transfer, Trincão said he was proud to join Al-Ahli. He promised to fight alongside his new teammates for trophies and bring joy to the club’s supporters.
