Spanish club Tenerife have officially announced the signing of Armenia international striker Grant-Leon Ranos from Borussia Mönchengladbach.
The 22-year-old forward has signed a two-year contract with the Segunda División club. The agreement includes an option for an additional season, with the extension becoming automatic if the team earns promotion to La Liga.
According to available information, Tenerife paid Borussia Mönchengladbach around €300,000 for Ranos. The terms of the deal may also include performance-related bonuses and a percentage of any future transfer fee.
On their official website, the Spanish club highlighted the new signing’s versatility and attacking qualities.
“Grant-Leon Ranos is a versatile forward who can operate both as a central striker and in more mobile attacking positions. He stands out for his strength, ability to attack space, movement without the ball, commitment to pressing, and impressive technical quality when linking up with teammates and finishing moves. Standing 1.80 metres tall, he combines pace, aggression inside the penalty area and excellent goalscoring instincts. These qualities make him a well-rounded forward with significant room for further development,” Tenerife said in a statement.
Ranos came through the academy of Bayern Munich. During the 2022/23 season, he finished as Bayern Munich II’s leading scorer, recording 20 goals and 13 assists in 36 official appearances.
The striker subsequently joined Borussia Mönchengladbach and made his Bundesliga debut for the club. He has played a total of 19 matches in Germany’s top division. Ranos also gained experience in the 2. Bundesliga during loan spells with Kaiserslautern and Eintracht Braunschweig.
The forward has made 26 appearances for the Armenian national team and scored five goals.
Tenerife will play their first official match of the new season against Almería on August 23.
