Slavik Galstyan defeats reigning world champion and reaches UWW Ranking Tournament semifinal

Armenian Greco-Roman wrestler Slavik Galstyan made a successful start at the UWW Ranking Tournament in Budapest and advanced to the semifinals of the 67 kg weight category.
In the round of 16, Galstyan claimed a convincing 6-1 victory over Germany’s Christopher Kraemer.
In the quarterfinals, the Armenian wrestler faced Uzbekistan’s Aytjan Khalmakhanov. Galstyan was leading 5-2 before pinning his opponent and securing an early victory.
Khalmakhanov is the reigning world champion, as well as an Asian champion, a U20 world champion and the winner of the UWW Ranking Tournament in Zagreb. However, the Uzbek wrestler won all of his major titles in the 63 kg weight category.
In the semifinals, Slavik Galstyan will face Dinislam Bammatov, representing Russia.
