Shahen Martirosyan becomes U15 European freestyle wrestling champion

Armenian wrestler Shagen Martirosyan won the gold medal at the U15 European Freestyle Wrestling Championships, which are taking place in Samokov, Bulgaria.
In the final of the 68 kg weight category, Martirosyan claimed a confident victory over Turkey’s Saruhan Karaoglu. The Armenian wrestler ended the bout early in just 40 seconds with a 10-0 score.
Shagen had a very powerful tournament and recorded five victories on his way to the championship title. Before the final, Martirosyan defeated opponents from Georgia, Russia, Moldova and Bulgaria.

Round of 32: victory over a wrestler from Bulgaria — 10-0
Round of 16: victory over a wrestler from Moldova — 8-2
Quarterfinal: victory over a wrestler from Russia — 10-4

Final: victory over Saruhan Karaoglu of Turkey — 10-0
Thus, Shagen Martirosyan became the U15 European champion and brought the Armenian national team a gold medal in freestyle wrestling.
Today, Olga Avetisyan also competed for the Armenian national team in the 42 kg weight category. The Armenian athlete lost in her opening bout. David Vardanyan competed for the bronze medal in the 75 kg weight category, but lost the decisive bout to a representative of Russia.
