Sergey Karmryan has won a silver medal at the U17 World Freestyle Wrestling Championships in Baku.
In the 60 kg final, the Armenian-born wrestler representing Russia suffered a 3–1 defeat against India’s Sitender.
In the semifinal, Karmryan defeated Ukraine’s Nikita Kuzmenko. The bout ended in a 2–2 tie, but Sergey advanced to the final on criteria.
Earlier in the tournament, Karmryan defeated Poland’s Witold Pawlik 4–0 and Uzbekistan’s Bekzodbek Ibrokhimov 5–0.
Armenia’s freestyle wrestling team also competed at the tournament but finished without a medal. Earlier, Armenia’s Greco-Roman wrestlers had won three medals at the event — one gold and two bronze.
