Canada and Bosnia announce starting lineups for the opening match of the Canadian part of the 2026 World Cup
Football

Today, June 12, Canada will play their first match at the home 2026 FIFA World Cup. In Toronto, the Canadians will face Bosnia and Herzegovina in a group-stage match.

Canada enter the game as slight favorites. This is influenced not only by the home-field factor and the support of the fans in Toronto, but also by the team’s more balanced squad. At the same time, both national teams have faced personnel problems: due to injuries, the participation of Alphonso Davies, Edin Dzeko and Haris Tabakovic is in doubt.

In Davies’ absence, Canada will rely on the attacking duo of Jonathan David and Tani Oluwaseyi, as well as a strong midfield featuring Eustaquio and Kone. For Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ermedin Demirovic will start in attack and is expected to be the main threat to the hosts’ defense.

Canada starting lineup

Crepeau — Johnston, De Fougerolles, Cornelius, Laryea — Buchanan, Eustaquio, Kone, Millar — David, Oluwaseyi.

Bosnia and Herzegovina starting lineup

Vasilj — Dedich, Katich, Muharemovich, Kolashinac — Bajraktarevich, Basic, Tahirovich, Memich — Lukich, Demirovic.
