Ararat-Armenia and Celje Make Squad Changes Ahead of Champions League Tie

Ararat-Armenia have made changes to their squad list for the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round matches against Slovenian side Celje.

Defender Kamo Hovhannisyan has been removed from the Yerevan club’s squad due to injury. He has been replaced by Juan Balanta, who has recovered from his injury.

Celje have also made a change to their squad. The Slovenian club have registered national team midfielder Benjamin Verbič, who recently joined the team from Greek side Levadiakos. The 32-year-old has made 65 appearances and scored seven goals for Slovenia.

Both teams played domestic league matches ahead of their meeting in the Champions League.

Celje drew 1–1 with Maribor. The Slovenian side made several changes compared with their European fixture, with the Portuguese head coach replacing the entire attacking line. However, the first-choice defenders remained in the starting lineup.

Ararat-Armenia defeated Gandzasar 4–3 in the Armenian championship. The Yerevan club completely changed its starting lineup following its European match.

The first leg between Ararat-Armenia and Celje will take place in Yerevan on August 4.
