Armenian Shooters Win Three Medals on Day Three of the World Championships in Tallinn

The Armenian national team continues its successful performance at the 2026 Running Target Shooting World Championships, being held in Tallinn from July 20 to 26. On the third day of competition, Armenian athletes won two gold medals and one bronze.

In the men’s normal run event, Gor Khachatryan and Hayk Minasyan successfully advanced through the qualification round and reached the semifinals, where they faced each other.

Khachatryan won the match 6–2 to secure a place in the final. In the decisive contest, the Armenian shooter defeated his Ukrainian opponent by the same score, 6–2, to claim the world championship title.

Hayk Minasyan faced an athlete from the Republic of Korea in the bronze-medal match. The Armenian shooter won the closely contested encounter 11–9 and became a World Championships bronze medalist.

Armenia’s second gold medal of the day was won by Aida Azatyan, who competes in the junior category. She scored 561 points in the qualification round of the normal run event and advanced to the semifinals in first place.

Azatyan defeated her Ukrainian opponent 6–4 in the semifinal before earning an 8–6 victory in a hard-fought final. As a result, the Armenian athlete became a two-time junior world champion.

Armenia’s representatives also performed successfully in the junior mixed-team event. Due to the insufficient number of participants, the competition was held as an international tournament rather than an official World Championships event.

Hamlet Karenyan and Lilit Mkrtchyan won silver medals in the event, while Manvel Mirzoyan and Aida Azatyan claimed bronze.

Following the third day of competition, Armenia continues to lead the World Championships in gold medals, with five titles. Kazakhstan and Finland have won two gold medals each, while Ukraine and Germany have claimed one apiece.
