Ararat Avetisyan Wins Bronze at U17 World Championships in Baku

Armenian Greco-Roman wrestler Ararat Avetisyan has won a bronze medal at the U17 World Championships taking place in Baku.
In the 48 kg bronze-medal bout, Avetisyan secured an early 8–0 victory over Hungary’s Benedek Tombor.
The result marked Armenia’s first medal at the tournament.
On his way to the podium, Ararat Avetisyan defeated Mexico’s Hector Aguilar 14–7 in the round of 16 before beating Uzbekistan’s Javohir Sharifboev 9–3 in the quarterfinals.
In the semifinal, the Armenian wrestler lost 1–4 to Kazakhstan’s Ali Almas, earning the opportunity to compete for the bronze medal.

Vazgen Mnatsakanyan (65 kg) will also compete for a bronze medal for Armenia today, while Janes Nazaryan (71 kg) will fight for gold in the final tomorrow.
