Alashkert Lose to CFR Cluj and Exit the UEFA Conference League

Yerevan-based Alashkert have ended their UEFA Conference League campaign after suffering a 3–0 away defeat against Romanian side CFR Cluj.
The Armenian club managed to hold their more highly rated opponents to a draw in the first leg of the second qualifying round. However, CFR Cluj’s superiority proved decisive in the return match.
The hosts opened the scoring in the third minute through Karlo Muhar. Alashkert’s task became even more difficult in the 12th minute when defender Cézar was shown a red card, leaving his team with ten players.
Meriton Korenica doubled CFR Cluj’s advantage before half-time, while Alin Fică completed the scoring in the 77th minute to make it 3–0.
Alashkert conclude their European campaign in the second qualifying round. Vahe Gevorgyan’s team played four matches, recording three draws and one defeat.
Alashkert earned Armenia 0.375 points in the UEFA coefficient rankings during their European campaign.
Ararat-Armenia and Noah remain in European competition, while Pyunik and Alashkert have both been eliminated in the second qualifying round.
