Hayk Khloyan wins bronze at UWW Ranking Series 2026 in Budapest

Armenian Greco-Roman wrestler Hayk Khloyan won a bronze medal at the UWW Ranking Series 2026 tournament in Budapest, Hungary.
Competing in the 97 kg weight category, Khloyan had a strong start to the tournament. In the round of 16, the Armenian wrestler defeated Uzbekistan? [correction: Kyrgyzstan] representative Uzur Dzhuzupbekov with a score of 7-1.
In the quarterfinals, Khloyan faced Hungarian wrestler Alex Szoke. The bout ended 1-1, but Szoke was awarded the victory based on additional criteria.
In the repechage round, Khloyan secured a convincing 4-0 victory over Germany’s Lukas Lazogiannis, earning the right to compete for the bronze medal.
Khloyan was initially scheduled to face Russia’s Musa Evloev in the bronze medal bout. However, Evloev was unable to compete due to injury, and Hayk Khloyan was awarded the bronze medal at the UWW Ranking Series tournament in Budapest.
Recently, Khloyan defeated Evloev at a tournament in Yerevan with a score of 3-2.

In the final, Alex Szoke defeated Ilya Yermolenko 6-1.
Armenia was represented by two Greco-Roman wrestlers at the UWW Ranking Series in Budapest. Slavik Galstyan (67 kg) finished fifth, while Hayk Khloyan (97 kg) won the bronze medal.
