Zhirayr Shaghoyan: "We must prove that we are a team capable of winning"

Ahead of the friendly match against Kosovo, Armenia national team forward Zhirayr Shaghoyan shared his expectations at a press conference, assessed the team’s preparation, and emphasized the importance of regaining confidence after setbacks in previous games.

“We all enjoy working with the head coach. Van’t Schip has a very interesting approach to football — we had good training sessions and prepared well for the match. All the players like his style of play: it requires a lot of work with the ball. I believe we’ll show a good performance in the upcoming matches,” Shaghoyan noted.

The Ararat-Armenia player also highlighted the progress of the Kosovo national team, which, in his words, plays boldly and aggressively:

“Kosovo is improving year by year. Now they play attacking football with high pressing. We have studied them well and will try to secure a win.”

According to Shaghoyan, the Armenian team is motivated to bounce back after the March loss to Georgia:

“We need to recover from our recent failures and prove that we are a team capable of winning. What happened in the match against Georgia should not be repeated. We’ve worked on our mistakes, and the coach pointed out the things we must avoid in the future.”

The match against Kosovo will take place on June 6 in Pristina and will be Armenia’s third game under the leadership of John van’t Schip.
