In the fourth round of the UEFA Nations League, the Armenia women’s national team suffered a 2-3 defeat against Kazakhstan. The away match turned out to be tense and hard-fought.
Kazakhstan opened the scoring thanks to a brace by Zhanel Bibossinova. However, 17-year-old midfielder Narine Davtyan of German club Hamburg responded with two goals of her own to equalize the score. Despite Armenia’s efforts, Aigerim Aitymova scored the winning goal in the 71st minute, securing three points for Kazakhstan.
Team captain Maral Artin missed the match due to injury. Before the game, her teammates showed their support for her.
After four rounds, Armenia is in third place in Group C3 of the Nations League with 6 points. Kazakhstan is second with 7 points, and Luxembourg leads the group with a perfect 10 points. Liechtenstein has yet to earn a point.
