Armenia national team captain and Saudi Al-Ahli midfielder Eduard Spertsyan will be unavailable for the national team's final matches of the 2026/27 UEFA Nations League group stage.
According to Insidyan, the 26-year-old midfielder has suffered an Achilles tendon injury that could keep him sidelined for up to four weeks.
Spertsyan sustained the injury on November 2 during the fourth round of the AFC Champions League against Qatar's Al-Sadd, which ended in a goalless draw (0-0).
The Armenian midfielder played the full 90 minutes but experienced pain after the final whistle and required medical attention. The severity of the injury was initially unknown.
According to the latest information from the source, the player's recovery could take approximately one month. As a result, Spertsyan will miss Armenia's November matches against Cyprus and Latvia.
Armenia will play their final two UEFA Nations League group-stage matches on the following dates:
-
November 12 — Armenia vs Cyprus (home).
-
November 15 — Latvia vs Armenia (away).
After four rounds, Armenia sit third in League C Group 2 with four points. The absence of their captain will be a significant blow to the national team ahead of these decisive fixtures.
