The Benur Pashayan Greco-Roman Wrestling Tournament Has Ended. All Results
Wrestling

On June 4, 2025, the sixth Benur Pashayan International Greco-Roman Wrestling Tournament concluded in Yerevan. On the final day, the competition featured finals and repechage matches across all ten weight categories.

Wrestlers from Armenia claimed victory in 8 out of ten categories.

Participants came from Armenia, Iran, Moldova, Poland, Norway, Belarus, Estonia, and Georgia.

The sensation of the tournament was 18-year-old Gor Khachatryan, who won gold in the 72 kg category. During the tournament, he defeated two Belarusian wrestlers with scores of 3–2 and 8–4, and then, in a dramatic battle, snatched victory from Armenian national team member Shant Khachatryan with a 4–3 score, earning the decisive points just five seconds before the end. In the semifinal, Gor confidently defeated an Iranian wrestler 3–0. In the final, he achieved a remarkable comeback — trailing 0–4 against reigning U20 World Champion Ahmadreza Mohsen Nezhad, Khachatryan mounted a heroic comeback to win 6–4.

The results of this tournament will form the basis of the Armenian national team for the 2025 World Championship, except in the 63 kg, 77 kg, and 97 kg categories, where Armenia’s top wrestlers — Karen Aslanyan, Malkhas Amoyan, and Artur Aleksanyan — did not participate.
