On September 21, in the Croatian capital Zagreb, the 2025 World Greco-Roman Wrestling Championships came to an end. On the final competition day, champions and medalists were determined in the weight categories of 63, 67, and 87 kg.

On the closing day, wrestlers from Uzbekistan, Serbia, and Iran became world champions. For the Uzbekistan national team, this was the first gold medal at a World Greco-Roman Wrestling Championship since 2001.

In the Armenian team, Slavik Galstyan (67 kg) won a bronze medal after a brilliant victory in the small final.

By the end of the tournament, Team Iran collected 4 gold medals, 2 silvers, and 2 bronzes. Iran confidently won the team standings with a twofold advantage over Azerbaijan. Wrestlers from Armenia, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, and Serbia each earned one gold medal.

Team Armenia finished the world championships with three medals: gold (Malkhas Amoyan, 77 kg) and two bronzes (Slavik Galstyan and Hrachya Poghosyan). The Russian team also ended up with three medals: a silver from Artur Sargsyan (97 kg) and two bronzes.

Interestingly, among the reigning Olympic champions, only two Iranians claimed gold in Zagreb — Saeid Esmaeili (67 kg) and Mohammad Hadi Saravi (97 kg). Kenichiro Fumita (60 kg), Semen Novikov (87 kg), and Mijaín López (130 kg) did not participate, while Nao Kusaka (77 kg) lost in the final to Armenia’s Malkhas Amoyan.
