Zahid Valencia Headlines Team USA Roster for Tournament in Yerevan

Team USA has announced its roster for the Stepan Sargsyan International Freestyle Wrestling Tournament, which will take place in Yerevan on September 11–13.

The U.S. team will be represented by five wrestlers across four weight classes. The biggest name on the roster is reigning 86 kg world champion Zahid Valencia.

Valencia has already won three international medals in 2026. In February, the American claimed bronze at the Zagreb Open ranking tournament before going on to win the Dan Kolov–Nikola Petrov International Tournament and the Pan American Championships.

Team USA roster:

57 kg — Killian Delaney
65 kg — Joey McKenna
74 kg — Cameron Amine
86 kg — Zahid Valencia
86 kg — Izzak Olejnik

Joey McKenna is another notable member of the U.S. squad. He is a two-time World Championships medalist at youth age-group level and a two-time Pan American champion. Cameron Amine has previously earned multiple NCAA Championships medals, while the tournament in Yerevan will mark Izzak Olejnik’s international debut.

The Stepan Sargsyan Memorial is the only international wrestling tournament held in Armenia that is included in the official United World Wrestling (UWW) calendar.

The tournament will offer prize money. The winner of each weight category will receive $2,000, while silver medalists will earn $1,000 and bronze medalists $500.

In addition, the personal coach of each champion will receive $500.

The American wrestlers will begin competition on September 11, with preliminary rounds and semifinals scheduled in the 57, 65, 74 and 86 kg weight classes. Medal bouts featuring Team USA wrestlers are scheduled for September 12.
