Armenian champions Unisport have ended their UEFA Futsal Champions League campaign after finishing second in Group 6 of the main round. They won two of their three matches and collected six points, but it was not enough to reach the knockout stage.
After losing their opening match 2–0 to Lithuania’s Kauno Žalgiris, Unisport recorded back-to-back victories. The Armenian side first beat mini-tournament hosts Differdange of Luxembourg 5–3, before securing a convincing 6–2 win over Greece’s Doukas in their final match.
The qualification place was decided in the group’s final fixture, when Kauno Žalgiris faced Differdange. The Lithuanian club secured a 7–4 victory to finish top and deny Unisport a place in the knockout stage.
Under the competition format, only the winners of the main round’s Path B groups advanced to the round of 16. The Armenian club therefore fell just short of reaching the next stage.
This was Unisport’s first-ever European campaign. The team successfully came through the preliminary round and finished the main round with two wins and a positive goal difference, scoring 11 goals and conceding seven.
