World Boxing has officially announced that participation in the U19 World Boxing Futures Cup 2026, which will be held in Thailand, is a mandatory requirement for qualification for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar.
The tournament in Thailand will take place from March 8 to March 15, 2026, with the entry deadline set for January 16.
The 2026 Youth Olympic Games will be held in Dakar, Senegal, from October 31 to November 13. These Games will be the first after a long break, as the previous Youth Olympic Games were held in Buenos Aires in 2018.
The Armenian national team has traditionally performed successfully at the Youth Olympic Games: across three editions, Armenian athletes have won 3 gold, 3 silver, and 7 bronze medals in various sports.
It should be noted that Armenia joined World Boxing at the end of 2025 and has not yet competed in events organized under the new federation, which is currently responsible for Olympic qualification in boxing. The tournament in Thailand may become the first international competition for Armenian boxers under the World Boxing banner.
