Gritty Victory for Khachanov and Rublev in Hong Kong

Karen Khachanov got off to a strong start in the 2026 season. The Armenian tennis player, partnering with Andrey Rublev, advanced to the quarterfinals of the ATP 250 tournament in Hong Kong.
In the round of 16, Khachanov and Rublev edged past the Czech duo of Nouza / Ripl in a tense battle — 6–7 (5–7), 6–3, 11–9.
The opening set was decided in a tie-break, where the Czechs proved slightly more accurate in key moments. However, in the second set the Russian pair turned the match around, securing a timely break and leveling the match.
The decisive third set was played as a match tie-break and kept the suspense until the very last points. In the closing stages, Khachanov and Rublev showed great fighting spirit and managed to overpower their opponents.
In the quarterfinals, the duo will face the French pair Arribage / Olivetti. The match is scheduled for January 8.
Also on January 8, Karen Khachanov will begin his singles campaign. He will face American Michael Mmoh. Khachanov is seeded fourth at the tournament.
