In the 24th round of the Armenian Premier League, Ararat-Armenia secured a dramatic 3-2 victory over Pyunik, managing to turn the game around after a difficult start.
Pyunik started confidently and was leading 2-0 by the 26th minute. The first goal came from Edgar Malakyan, who converted a penalty, and a few minutes later, Matas Vareika doubled the lead. This was the Lithuanian player’s fourth goal for Pyunik. The team controlled the game and had several chances to extend their advantage.
However, Ararat-Armenia did not give up and managed to reduce the deficit before halftime with a brilliant free-kick by Zhirayr Shaghoyan. In the second half, they kept up the pressure, and in the 71st minute, Eric Okansi equalized the score. The decisive moment came in stoppage time—at the 91st minute, Ararat-Armenia was awarded a penalty, which Marius Noubissi confidently converted, securing a crucial victory for his team.
This result allowed Ararat-Armenia to climb to third place in the league table, overtaking Pyunik and improving their chances of a strong finish to the season.
