At the RCC Boxing Promotions tournament in Yekaterinburg, the audience witnessed a spectacular eight-round clash in the heavyweight division, where Vartan Arutyunyan (11-0) faced Vitaly Kudukhov (7-3) in the co-main event.
The opening rounds unfolded at a measured pace, with both boxers preferring to work at close range, exchanging single power punches and searching for openings in each other’s defense. Kudukhov more often attacked in combinations from a distance, but most of his shots landed on Harutyunyan’s guard. Meanwhile, Harutyunyan relied on solid hooks and uppercuts, also targeting the body.
In the second half of the fight, Arutyunyan tried to increase the pace, but Kudukhov forced a tight, tactical battle. Vitaly occasionally unleashed flurries of punches, but under threat he would move into clinches, preventing Harutyunyan from building his attack. Nevertheless, Harutyunyan’s punches appeared sharper and inflicted more damage.
After the final bell, the judges unanimously awarded the victory to Vartan Arutyunyan. The boxer admitted that he did not initially expect a knockout, knowing that Kudukhov was an experienced and durable opponent.
