Armenian judoka Vahe Aghasyan has won the Open European Judo Cup in Tallinn. The Armenian national team athlete claimed gold in the under-60 kg weight category.

The tournament took place from June 6 to 7 in the capital of Estonia. Armenia was represented by six judokas and finished the European Cup with two medals — one gold and one bronze.

The main success for the Armenian team came from Vahe Aghasyan. Competing in the under-60 kg category, he delivered a confident performance and defeated opponents from Great Britain, Israel, Italy and Poland on his way to the title. As a result, the Armenian judoka reached the top step of the podium.

Armenia’s second medal was won by Gor Karapetyan, who competed in the under-100 kg category. He claimed bronze at the European Cup after defeating representatives of Ukraine, Italy and Croatia, but lost to a judoka from Latvia.

After competing in Tallinn, the Armenian national team traveled to Poreč, Croatia, where it is holding a training camp.
