Armenia national team footballer Vahan Bichakhchyan has joined the list of Armenians who have played at the legendary Stamford Bridge stadium. While earlier this season the Armenian club Noah suffered a heavy 0–8 defeat to Chelsea in the Conference League, Polish side Legia Warsaw, where Bichakhchyan plays, managed to pull off a stunning upset.
In the second leg of the Conference League quarterfinal, Legia defeated Chelsea 2–1 away, ending the London club’s nine-match winning streak in European competition. However, Chelsea advanced to the semifinals with an aggregate score of 4–2.
Legia’s goals were scored by Tomas Pekhart and Steve Kapuida, while Chelsea’s only goal came from Marc Cucurella.
Vahan Bichakhchyan came on in the 86th minute and spent less than 10 minutes on the pitch. During that time, the midfielder managed one shot on target and completed four accurate passes without errors. According to SofaScore, he received a 6.6 rating.
Thus, despite Legia's elimination, the Armenian international can consider this match a personal highlight — winning at Stamford Bridge remains a rare achievement, even for Europe’s top clubs.
