Takhti Cup 2025 in Freestyle Wrestling Kicks Off in Isfahan – First Winners Announced
On May 8, the international freestyle wrestling tournament Takhti Cup 2025 started in the Iranian city of Isfahan. Armenian wrestlers are participating, along with athletes from Iran, Russia, Afghanistan, India, Iraq, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, the Netherlands, and Tajikistan.
On the first day, medals were contested in five weight categories: 57 kg, 65 kg, 79 kg, 86 kg, and 97 kg.
Four athletes represented Armenia, but none reached the podium. Sergey Sargsyan (97 kg) came close to winning a medal but lost the bronze medal match to Iran's Arashk Mohebi with a score of 1–4.
