The Government of Armenia has approved a project for the construction of a multifunctional sports and cultural center in the “Jrvezh” forest park. The decision was made as part of preparations for the Pan-Armenian Games.
For the implementation of the initiative, the Pan-Armenian Committee was granted a 23.3-hectare plot of land for 50 years with construction rights. The total investment program amounts to 20.9 billion drams, with an implementation period of 13 years.
The new complex will serve as the main accommodation center for participants of both summer and winter Games. During other times, it will host youth camps, cultural and educational programs, Armenia–Diaspora events, as well as leisure and recreational activities.
At the first stage, eco-houses, a canteen, and a medical center will be installed. These structures will be built on tree-free areas and will not involve capital construction. In later stages, the project envisions the creation of sports arenas and halls.
The program also includes planting about 20,000 trees and creating over 1,200 new jobs.
The Pan-Armenian Committee will be responsible for financing the maintenance and operation of the complex.
