Urartu Concede Late Equalizer as Ararat Snatch 2-2 Draw in Armenian Premier League

Urartu and Yerevan-based Ararat played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in the ninth round of the Armenian Premier League. Robert Arzumanyan's side came close to securing all three points but conceded a late equalizer just minutes before the end of regulation time.

The visitors opened the scoring in the 12th minute when Arman Aslanyan put Ararat ahead with his first goal of the current Armenian Premier League season.

However, Urartu managed to restore parity before halftime. In the 35th minute, Japanese midfielder Katsuyuki Ishibashi found the back of the net, scoring his second league goal of the season.

Both teams continued pushing for victory in the second half, with one of the game's standout moments coming in the 79th minute. Gor Lalukyan scored a spectacular goal against his former club, giving Urartu a 2-1 lead.

It appeared that the hosts would hold on to their advantage and collect all three points, but Ararat refused to give up. In the 87th minute, Sindou Junior Bakayoko scored a late equalizer to rescue a point for the visitors and seal the final score at 2-2.

As a result, Urartu let a valuable victory slip away in the closing stages. Robert Arzumanyan's team now have 12 points and sit fifth in the Armenian Premier League standings.

Ararat, who avoided defeat thanks to Bakayoko's late goal, have 10 points and occupy eighth place in the table.
