Armenia international Ugochukwu Iwu is expected to recover from injury in time for the national team's September fixtures.
Rubin Kazan head coach Franck Artiga confirmed at a press conference that the midfielder is not yet training with the squad but is expected to be available for the Russian Premier League match against CSKA Moscow on September 12. Rubin will then face Rodina on September 16 in the Russian Cup before Iwu joins the Armenia national team.
The midfielder has made four appearances for Rubin this season but missed the club's last two matches due to injury.
Armenia will begin its UEFA Nations League campaign on September 25 with a home match against Latvia.
The Armenian national team is currently dealing with several injury concerns. Alongside Iwu, forwards Grant-Leon Ranos and Finn Geragousian, defenders Kamo Hovhannisyan and Stepa Mkrtchyan, as well as striker Artur Miranyan, are sidelined with injuries. In addition, Narek Grigoryan and Edgar Sevikyan have yet to earn regular playing time at their clubs, creating further concerns ahead of the Nations League opener.
