Ugochukwu Iwu stays at Rubin, contract extended

Armenia national team midfielder Ugochukwu Iwu has extended his contract with Kazan's Rubin until the summer of 2028, the club's official account announced.

The previous deal of the 25-year-old footballer was valid until 2026.

Iwu is currently in his third season at Rubin. He joined the Russian club from Yerevan's Urartu for €700,000. The midfielder has played 63 matches and scored 2 goals for Rubin.

During his time at Rubin, the Armenian footballer’s market value has more than tripled — from €700,000 to €2.5 million.

The Kazan club creatively announced the contract extension by using Armenian motifs and a backgammon theme.
