UEFA may relocate Euro 2026 Futsal due to Latvia and Lithuania’s refusal to host one of the teams

UEFA is considering changing the host country for the 2026 UEFA Futsal Euro, according to Sport.kz.
Latvia and Lithuania were initially selected as the co-hosts of the tournament. However, both countries have objected to the participation of the Belarusian national team, which has qualified for the final stage. The refusal is reportedly linked to Belarus's political stance and its support of Russia’s actions in the conflict with Ukraine.
Amid this developing crisis, the playoff draw — initially scheduled for May 21 — is now uncertain. Sources suggest it might be postponed to a later date.
As a possible alternative, UEFA is considering Kazakhstan as the new host. The country has modern infrastructure and experience in organizing international events. A final decision is expected soon.
The Telegram channel “Futsal Belarus” published the following message:
“Earlier, the football federations of Lithuania and Latvia expressed their unwillingness to host the Belarusian team in their territory during the European Championship. Both countries were originally selected as hosts. Among the potential new hosts is Kazakhstan ????????, which has the necessary infrastructure for international tournaments. A decision on relocation may be made soon.”
As a reminder, the Armenia national futsal team will take part in Euro 2026 — marking the country's debut in the final stage of the tournament.
