Heavyweight boxer Temur Mamoyan (11-0, 11 KO) captured the WBA World Gold championship belt by knocking out Juar El-Sheikh (23-2-1) in the eighth round of their bout, which took place during a boxing event in Göppingen, Germany.
The 34-year-old athlete, an ethnic Yazidi born in Yerevan, has been living and training in Germany in recent years. The victory over El-Sheikh marks the biggest achievement of his professional career and an important milestone Mamoyan had been striving toward for many years.
Notably, Temur began competing in the professional ring only in 2022, already at a mature age — 31. Despite the late start, he has shown impressive results: all 11 of his fights have ended by knockout.
Mamoyan continues to rise rapidly in the rankings, and his WBA World Gold title win opens new opportunities in the world of boxing.
