Telma Ghazarian Altoon continues to push the boundaries of what is possible! On February 16, the 49-year-old athlete participated in the Jackpot Ultra Running Festival ultramarathon in Las Vegas, where she ran over 130 kilometers in 24 hours and finished third among women.
Telma is the only Armenian ultramarathon runner in the world. Born into an Iranian-Armenian family and raised in California, she became passionate about running from a young age, competing for her school and university teams. Since 2014, she has completed at least 29 ultramarathons and set nearly all Armenian records in this sport.
Ghazarian is known for her extreme endurance, taking part in self-sufficient multi-day races where athletes carry all their necessary gear while overcoming harsh conditions. In 2016, she ran 160 kilometers in high-altitude terrain for 35 hours non-stop.
In 2017, Telma Ghazarian completed a 290-kilometer ultramarathon in Armenia, running from Vardenis to Hadrut in Artsakh.
