Abov Avetisyan’s team, Tatran Prešov, has secured promotion to the Slovak Super Liga after winning the Second Division. With two rounds remaining, the club has collected 60 points, making it unreachable for its rivals.
This season, Avetisyan has made 16 league appearances and played 4 games in the Slovak Cup. He is gradually becoming a key player for Tatran, solidifying the team’s central midfield. Although he spent most of his career as a right-back, in recent seasons he has been more frequently used as a defensive midfielder.
Abov Avetisyan is the cousin of Armenia national team forward Artur Miranyan, who plays for Romanian club Universitatea Cluj. Born in Donetsk, Avetisyan began his football journey at the Shakhtar Donetsk academy, where he met Henrikh Mkhitaryan. At the age of 15, he moved to Hungary to join Kisvárda, making just 3 top-flight appearances before continuing his career in Slovakia.
If Avetisyan stays with Tatran next season, he will share the Slovak top division with fellow Armenian international Tigran Barseghyan — possibly setting up an all-Armenian clash.
