29 teams confirmed for the league phase of the 2026/27 Champions League season

The names of 29 clubs that have already secured their places in the league phase of the 2026/27 Champions League season have been confirmed. In total, 36 teams will take part in the main stage of the tournament, as has been the case under the new format in recent years.
England and Spain will have the biggest representation in the next edition of the Champions League, with five clubs each. Both associations received additional places thanks to the strong results of their teams in European competitions during the 2025/26 season. UEFA had earlier confirmed that England and Spain earned the European Performance Spots — additional tickets to the league phase of the tournament.
England will be represented in the Champions League by Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United, Aston Villa and Liverpool. Spain’s representatives will be Barcelona, Real Madrid, Villarreal, Atletico Madrid and Betis.
Italy and Germany will each have four clubs in the competition. One of the main stories for Italian football is Como’s qualification for the Champions League: the team finished in the top four of Serie A and earned a place in Europe’s top club competition for the first time.

The remaining seven places in the Champions League league phase will be decided through the qualifying rounds. According to UEFA regulations, five spots will go to the winners of the champions path, while two more will go to the winners of the league path.
The main stage of the 2026/27 Champions League season will begin on September 8, 2026, and end on January 27, 2027. The final of the tournament is scheduled for June 5, 2027, and will be held at the Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid.
As a reminder, the winner of the current Champions League season will be decided on May 30 in the final between PSG and Arsenal. The match will take place at the Puskas Arena in Budapest.
