Krasnodar midfielder and one of Armenia’s key players, Eduard Spertsyan, has expressed confidence that the national team will continue fighting for a place in the FIFA World Cup and the UEFA European Championship.
National team’s ambitions
In a recent interview, Spertsyan emphasized that the Armenian team is undergoing a renewal process, but the main goal remains unchanged—to qualify for international tournaments.
"It is a dream for the entire team, and we are doing everything possible to make it come true. Of course, there are difficulties along the way: tough matches, a lack of experience among young players. But we keep working hard and aim to qualify for the World Cup and the European Championship as soon as possible," said the midfielder.
Leadership in the national team
Spertsyan also responded to a question about his role in the team. The midfielder is aware of the responsibility placed on him but avoids direct comparisons with Henrikh Mkhitaryan, the legend of Armenian football.
"Comparisons with Henrikh always come up, but I think they are not entirely correct. Of course, I feel a great responsibility for the team, and it is important for me to meet expectations," Spertsyan noted.
Up next, Armenia will face Georgia in crucial UEFA Nations League playoff matches, scheduled for March 20 and 23.
