Spartak Names One of “Lukoil Arena” Stands After Nikita Simonyan

Moscow’s Spartak has named the “A” stand of its Lukoil Arena after legendary footballer and coach Nikita Simonyan, the club’s press service reported.
The club stated that this decision aims to preserve the memory of the outstanding athlete: “The ‘A’ stand now bears the name of Nikita Simonyan. He will forever remain close to his beloved club.”
Simonyan, who also worked with Yerevan’s Ararat, is regarded as the top scorer in the history of Moscow Spartak.
The legendary forward and Olympic champion passed away on November 23 at the age of 99. The farewell ceremony is scheduled for November 27 and will take place at Spartak’s home stadium.
