Armenia women’s national team goalkeeper Sophine Kevorkian will continue her career with American club Brooklyn. The club has officially announced the signing of the 23-year-old, marking the first professional contract of her career.
The deal will take effect following the necessary approval from the league and federation.
From College Soccer to the Professional Game
Before joining Brooklyn, Kevorkian played college soccer in the United States for the University of San Diego and Louisiana State University (LSU).
She spent her first two seasons with the San Diego Toreros, regularly featuring in the starting lineup. In one of those seasons, the Armenian goalkeeper set a university record with 97 saves.
Kevorkian spent the past two years at LSU, where she also established herself as the first-choice goalkeeper. In her final season, she helped the team reach the SEC Tournament final and advance to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Championship, the best result in the history of the university’s program.
In 13 matches that season, Kevorkian suffered just one defeat, recorded three clean sheets and made 38 saves.
Six Appearances for Armenia
Sophine Kevorkian made her debut for the Armenia women’s national team in February 2025. Since then, the goalkeeper has made six appearances for the national side.
Her most recent appearance for Armenia came in March 2026 during qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Brooklyn head coach Alex Smith highlighted the confidence and leadership qualities of the club’s new goalkeeper.
“Sophine brings confidence and a strong presence to the goalkeeper position. Her composure, competitive mentality and ability to make important saves will be extremely valuable to our team this season. We are delighted to welcome Sophine to Brooklyn and look forward to the contribution she will make to the team’s results,” Smith said.
Brooklyn competes in the Gainbridge Super League (USL), the top division of women’s professional soccer in the United States, although the league is considered to be below the NWSL in overall level.
The move into the professional game represents a new stage in Kevorkian’s career and will give the Armenia international an opportunity to continue developing and gain regular playing experience in one of the leading women’s soccer competitions in the United States.
