Slavik Galstyan and Hayk Khloyan to compete at UWW Ranking Series event in Budapest

Two Armenian Greco-Roman wrestlers will take part in the United World Wrestling Ranking Series event in Budapest.

The Polyak Imre, Varga Janos & Kozma Istvan Memorial tournament will be held in the Hungarian capital from July 15 to 19 and will be the fourth and final stop of the UWW Ranking Series.

The competition will take place at the BOK Sports Hall. Freestyle wrestling will open the tournament program, followed by women’s wrestling, while Greco-Roman wrestling will close the five-day event.

Armenia to be represented by Slavik Galstyan and Hayk Khloyan

Two Armenian Greco-Roman wrestlers have been entered for the tournament:

67 kg — Slavik Galstyan
97 kg — Hayk Khloyan

For the Armenian wrestlers, the Budapest tournament will be an important opportunity to collect ranking points and test themselves against strong international opposition.

Slavik Galstyan’s opponents in the 67 kg category

The 67 kg weight category features a strong field of participants. Among Slavik Galstyan’s potential opponents are wrestlers from Azerbaijan, China, Georgia, Germany, India, Kazakhstan, Russia, Turkey, the United States and Uzbekistan.

The list of participants in the 67 kg category includes Mahammad Shukurzade of Azerbaijan, Diego Chkhikvadze of Georgia, Dominik Etlinger of Croatia, Murat Firat of Turkey, as well as Russian wrestlers Daniial Agaev, Dinislam Bammatov and Ruslan Bichurin.

Also competing in this weight class will be Kazakhstan’s Din Mukhamed Koshkar, Meiirzhan Shermakhanbet and Yerzhet Zharlykassyn, American wrestler Otto Elliot Black, and Uzbekistan’s Aytjan Khalmakhanov and Sardor Yuldashev.

Hayk Khloyan’s opponents in the 97 kg category

Hayk Khloyan will compete in the 97 kg weight category, which also has a strong lineup.

Among the participants are Arif Niftullayev of Azerbaijan, Artur Omarov of the Czech Republic, Mohamed Gabr of Egypt, Arvi Savolainen of Finland, Luka Gabisonia of Georgia, Islam Yevloyev of Kazakhstan, Uzur Dzhuzupbekov of Kyrgyzstan and Timothy Young of the United States.

Russian wrestlers Ilia Ermolenko and Musa Evloev are also entered in the 97 kg category, while Serbia will be represented by three athletes — Branko Dukic, Luka Katic and Mihail Kajaia.

The Budapest tournament will be one of the final major international events of the UWW Ranking Series season and will bring together a strong field across all Olympic weight categories.
