Armenia’s Freestyle Wrestling Team Concludes Performances at the 2025 World Championships

Armenia’s freestyle wrestling team has completed its participation at the 2025 World Championships held in Zagreb. Abetnak Kurginyan’s squad returns home with a single medal — a bronze won by Arsen Harutyunyan (57 kg). For the 25-year-old wrestler, this marks his fourth consecutive World Championship medal.

The highlight of the tournament was Harutyunyan’s brilliant 14:3 victory over Olympic silver medalist Spencer Lee (USA). In the decisive bronze medal match, he overcame Roman Bravo-Young of Mexico with a score of 7:4.

Arman Andreasyan (70 kg) also delivered excellent performances, finishing just short of the podium in 5th place. He showed remarkable character by snatching victory over Viktor Rassadin with a last-second point and defeating Azerbaijan’s Kanan Heybatov 8:6 after trailing 3:6 with only 20 seconds left.
