Armenian Greco-Roman wrestling team arrives in Baku for U17 World Championships

The Armenian Greco-Roman wrestling team has arrived in Baku to participate in the U17 World Championships, the Wrestling Federation of Armenia has announced.
Armenia will compete at the tournamentin Azerbaijan with its strongest lineup. The same wrestlers previously finished second in the team standings at the U17 European Championships.
Armenia’s lineup:
- 45 kg — Vazgen Vardanyan;
- 48 kg — Ararat Avetisyan;
- 51 kg — Gevorg Harutyunyan;
- 55 kg — Gegham Yeghiazaryan;
- 60 kg — Artush Petrosyan;
- 65 kg — Vazgen Mnatsakanyan;
- 71 kg — Janes Nazaryan;
- 80 kg — Vahe Hoveyan;
- 92 kg — Aleksan Shaljyan;
- 110 kg — Khachik Khachatryan.
The Greco-Roman wrestling competition will begin on July 27, while the freestyle wrestling tournament will start on July 31.
It was previously reported that Armenia could withdraw from the World Championships due to security concerns. Until the final days before the tournament, the Armenian team’s entry was also absent from the competition’s official website.
Nevertheless, the Armenian team ultimately decided to travel to Baku. The tournament is of major importance for the development of athletes in this age group and for gaining international experience.
