Armenia’s Road to EURO 2026

The breakthrough of Armenian futsal is the result of years of systematic development. Head coach Ruben Nazaretyan has been in charge of the national team since 2003 and has spent more than two decades building futsal in the country virtually from scratch.

Significant progress became evident during the qualification campaign for the 2024 FIFA Futsal World Cup, where Armenia recorded an impressive streak of seven consecutive victories, defeating Czechia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Scotland and Bulgaria. However, at the decisive stage, the team faced serious challenges and was forced to rebuild the squad urgently due to restrictions on the use of Brazilian players.

By the start of the EURO 2026 qualifying campaign, Armenia approached the competition fully prepared. Drawn into a group with one of the world’s strongest futsal teams, Kazakhstan, Armenia secured five wins and one draw. Victories over Denmark, Albania and Kazakhstan itself ensured first place in the group and a historic qualification for the EURO finals — achieved without foreign-born players.

Armenia’s Results in EURO 2026 Qualifiers

  • Armenia — Denmark: 4–3

  • Kazakhstan — Armenia: 4–4

  • Armenia — Albania: 4–0

  • Albania — Armenia: 1–5

  • Denmark — Armenia: 1–3

  • Armenia — Kazakhstan: 4–2

Preparation for the European Championship

In preparation for EURO 2026, the Armenian national team took part in a friendly tournament in Yerevan, where it defeated the teams of Georgia, Moldova and Kyrgyzstan. In addition, Armenia recently recorded a convincing 8–3 victory over Lebanon in a friendly match, further underlining the team’s high level of readiness.

Armenia’s Match Schedule at EURO 2026

The Armenian national team will play the following matches in the group stage:

  • Armenia vs Ukraine
    January 22, 16:00

  • Armenia vs Czechia
    January 25, 13:00

  • Lithuania vs Armenia

All Group B matches of the UEFA Futsal EURO 2026 will be held in Kaunas, Lithuania.

Qualification for EURO 2026 has already become the greatest achievement in the history of Armenian futsal. Now, Armenia aims to make a strong statement on the European stage and continue the journey built through years of hard work and belief in its own strength.

UEFA Futsal EURO 2026 will take place from January 21 to February 7 in Lithuania, Latvia and Slovenia.
