Armenia defeat Azerbaijan in Round 9 of the Chess Olympiad

Armenia’s open team defeated Azerbaijan in Round 9 of the 46th Chess Olympiad in Samarkand. The match ended 2.5–1.5.

Gabriel Sargissian secured the decisive point by beating Rauf Mamedov. The other three games ended in draws, with Hayk Martirosyan, Robert Hovhannisyan and Shant Sargsyan all drawing their games.

After nine rounds, Armenia have 15 match points from a possible 18. The team have won six matches, drawn three and remain unbeaten.
