Armenia Announce Foreign-Based Squad List for Matches Against Kazakhstan and Moldova
Football 💬 Comment

Armenia national team head coach Yeghishe Melikyan has announced the list of players based at foreign clubs who have been called up for the upcoming friendly matches against Kazakhstan and Moldova.

Both matches will take place in Yerevan. Armenia will face Kazakhstan on June 6 and Moldova on June 9. These games will be the national team’s final test before the start of the 2026/27 UEFA Nations League season.

Armenia’s Foreign-Based Players List

The extended list includes 10 players:

Georgiy Harutyunyan — Puskas Akademia, Hungary
Edgar Sevikyan — Akron, Russia

Eduard Spertsyan — Krasnodar, Russia
Hrant-Leon Ranos — Eintracht B, Germany

David Hakobyan Is the Only Debutant

David Hakobyan is the only debutant on the list of foreign-based players. The Armenia U21 international plays for Slovak club Podbrezova and has regularly been included in his team’s squad in recent matches.

Hakobyan’s call-up can be considered one of the main new decisions by the coaching staff ahead of the June friendlies. For the player, this is a chance to prove himself for the first time at the level of the Armenia national team.

Sevikyan, Miranyan and Grigoryan Return to the Squad

Compared to the previous match against Belarus, Edgar Sevikyan, Artur Miranyan and Narek Grigoryan have returned to Armenia’s squad after missing out at that time due to injuries.

Their return should strengthen the team’s attacking potential, especially given that several important players will be unable to help the national team because of injuries.

Who Will Miss the Matches Due to Injuries

Several players who are recovering from injuries have not been included in the squad for the June matches:

Vahan Bichakhchyan
Finn Geragusian
Styopa Mkrtchyan
Ugochukwu Iwu

Their absence significantly limits the coaching staff’s options, particularly in defense and midfield.

Final Test Before the Nations League

The matches against Kazakhstan and Moldova will be an important stage in Armenia’s preparations for the 2026/27 Nations League. Yeghishe Melikyan will have the opportunity to test the nearest reserves, assess the condition of returning players and give a chance to debutants.

Armenia will play in Group C2 of the Nations League together with Montenegro, Cyprus and Latvia.
