English club Southampton have submitted an official offer for Krasnodar captain and Armenia national team midfielder Eduard Spertsyan. According to insider Ivan Karpov, the transfer fee is set at €12 million.
The source reports that the Russian club’s management has already received the written offer and is currently reviewing the terms of the deal. Southampton head coach Will Still sees the 25-year-old Armenian footballer as a key figure for the team and plans to build his playing model around him.
It should be noted that Southampton are competing in the English Championship this season and earned 3 points after the first round. Earlier reports indicated that the club from Southampton was seriously interested in signing Spertsyan, who is considered one of the most valuable players in the Russian Premier League and a leader of Armenia’s national team.
In the current Russian Premier League season, Eduard Spertsyan has scored 1 goal and provided 3 assists in three matches.
UPDATED: Southampton have offered the Armenian a four-year contract worth €1.9m a year, which could rise substantially if the Saints are promoted to the English Premier League.
